ONION

BOZHIGRAD (Onion of Miras) This small – tennis ball sized onion with a flat base is a local landrace and much valued for its sweetness when eaten raw, but a delicious culinary onion as well.  Sow in March and lift as sets in August to plant out in March.  Sow seed in the New Year and harvest in September from seeds.

This variety was given to me by a teacher in Miras whose mum grows them and they are named by her, Fare Gepe Te Me –  Onions from my garden.’
