KIPFLER BEAN
I was given this bean by a friend from Styria in Austria where it is much loved as a local heirloom. Vigorous with heavy crops of delicious and stringless beans. Also, an excellent multi purpose bean as the seeds are redolent of Borlotti beans and are an excellent addition to the winter larder.
BRIENZ CHRÜGLER
This very pretty bean is a Swiss heirloom from Brienz in the Swiss Bernese Oberland. I discovered it being sold on a stall by the lake after which it is named. Heavy crops of tender pods from mid summer. The dried beans are delicious in soups and casseroles too.
