GUATEMALAN GREEN FLESHED AYOTE

(C. moschata)

A super sweet summer squash that also stores really well into the New Year.  Soft skinned so easy to peel.  Often eaten raw in salads. Great grated!  But also superb cooker with firm delicious flesh.  Can be roasted and steamed.  great with pasta especially as ravioli.

ADAM’S SURPRISE (C. maxima)

Can weigh a good 4Kg.  This wonderful keeper is full of sweetness and nutty flavours.  Fantastic all-rounder whether for soups, casseroles, roasted with a pinch of chilli powder or smoked paprika.  And why the name?  I thought I had sown a variety called North Georgia Candy roaster which had been given to me by my friend Andreas Motschiunig.  But this is clearly different!  It looks more like Queensland Blue!  I will grow from the original seed again to see if it is an accidental cross he made.  Meanwhile, enjoy until I can discover  its true identity.
